Therapy Services

We can help you build a stronger and healthier relationship with yourself and with the people that you care about.  We will work on building greater awareness, safety,  and connection in your life. Together, we will work towards the life that is more closely in-line with how you want to live.

Individuals

In individual therapy, we will explore what is currently challenging you by building a rich understanding of your struggle(s).  Together, we will identify and create new paths of resilience and hope that promote your healing and growth.  To advance your healing, we may determine that it is best to ask others to join you in therapy when necessary.

In premarital therapy, we will explore individual and relational strengths and areas for growth. I will recommend skills/and tools help each partner grow both individually and relationally, as well as facilitate discussion on topics of concerns for each individual before marriage.

Premarital

Couples and Partners

In couple and partner therapy, we will explore how your relationship is unique in supporting you and your partner(s) and look for areas where we can build intimacy and connection.  We will work to regain and strengthen relationships to promote healing and happiness for you as individuals and as a partners.

Children and Families

Children heal when they have a safe emotional space to process their trauma, vulnerability, and pain. But the path to healing isn’t always easy. Along the way, children and families hit stumbling blocks — dysregulation, unexplainable behaviors, resistance, and navigating multiple opinions.

We can help children and famlies achieve true mental fitness that sets children and families on a path of thriving in school, relationships, family, and life.

Family therapy can help you gain a better understanding of the patterns and dynamics to support family growth and well-being.  We will explore family rules, roles, boundaries, and how your family navigates conflict.  We will work together to develop a system that promotes healthy connectedness and love.

Eating Disorder Treatment using Family Based Treatment (FBT)

Family Based Treatment (FBT) is an evidenced-based treatment for eating disorders. Your therapist works with your entire family to support your child’s recovery from an eating disorder (Anorexia Nervosa or Bulimia Nervosa). We may work with your child’s pediatrician or recommend your family work with a Registered Dietitian to ensure your child is receiving the support they need at the outpatient level of care. Here is where you can read more about FBT: http://maudsleyparents.org/whatismaudsley.html

Child Therapy/Parent Coaching

In therapy for your child, your therapist will identify your child’s unique growth points and strengths, while building your child’s self-esteem and skills to cope with distress. Parents/primary childcare providers are highly involved in the therapeutic experience, and receive simutaneous and/or seperate support to build parents tools to support their child and family system.

Child/Adolescent/Adult Trauma Treatment using Narrative Exposure Therapy

Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) is an evidenced-based treatment for individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is specifically designed for individuals with complex trauma histories who continue to suffer from the impact of having multiple and prolonged threats to their life or their social/physical integrity.

NET is a robust, culturally universal intervention that is flexible enough to work with children and adults across contexts, and is effective in low-resource settings. A key component of NET is the construction of a chronological narrative of the client’s life story with a focus on traumatic events. The process involves exposure to traumatic events in a way that contextualizes trauma by weaving together previously fragmented memory into a coherent narrative.

NET is a short-term treatment that allows clients to experience symptom relief quickly and effectively. Research has demonstrated significant relief with as few as 3-6 sessions. Narrative Exposure Therapy is not part of Narrative Therapy; instead it is guided by the principles of testimony therapy and behavioral exposure, and is rooted in the neuroscience of traumatic stress.
